I think Beckett and Castle both know that Sophia wasn’t lying about his father.

There was absolutely no reason to reveal that information to him. The only argument I can make is that she simply wanted to torture him. Because she knows that he always wants to find the end of the story and the perfect way to torture him would be to give him a story that doesn’t actually exist - a story that doesn’t have an ending. But even that argument doesn’t make sense because she was about to blow his head off. 

I was not really keen about the whole Castle’s father storyline, but I have to admit, this is pretty freaking cool. And I totally applaud the way it came about. The writers handled it superbly - as if I ever had any doubts. 

The beauty of this new story development is that it in some ways puts Castle and Beckett on equal ground. Beckett is in the dark about her whole situation involving her mom’s death. And Castle is completely in the dark about who his dad is.

Also, this whole development makes me wonder if Castle’s dad is going to be all caught up in that whole thing with Beckett’s mom. I would not be surprised.

It would be a giant twist tbh. I mean being together with the son of the guy who has something to do with your moms death-that’s huge, even if I am sure Beckett can make a difference. 

I could imagine that as a season finale, and it would be wonderful storytelling, even though in real life it would be a very unlikely scenario.

But because we’re talking about TV here, I would loooove to see those storylines connected.
